Information about Emmanuel College health sciences, registering in a technical training program, and taking free tests online. Nursing is one of the fastest-growing job areas, and for good reason. As the population ages, medical care will continue to expand. If you complete the health sciences program, for example, there are a variety of nursing concentrations that may appeal to you, such as certified nurse assistant CNA training, the nursing aide program, or occupational rehabilitation. Check with the health sciences department for an updated schedule of classes, registration deadlines, and a list of health sciences degree requirements. Due to advances in medical systems, there is a growing skill-shortage of trained nurses, and of medical professionals in general. Please use the form above to request admissions info for Emmanuel College.

Healthcare jobs such as registered nurses, LPN's, LVN's and related vocational technicians provide over 15 million jobs in the United States alone. Some health sciences graduates find employment as health technologists and technicians, electronic medical records specialists, billing department personnel, health information technicians, diagnostic medical sonographers, or radiologic technicians. The American Hospital Association is the national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities.

The outlook for technical medical careers is especially bright, and opportunities for health sciences program grads are expected to increase by 10% to 20% in the next eight years. The increasing number of elderly people is seen as a primary factor in this growth. As people age they have more medical problems, and hospitals will require more technicians to perform specialized healthcare services. Aside from a good salary, most medical personnel receive comprehensive medical and dental benefits, as well as 401k retirement plans.

EMT Training Programs

During the transport of a patient, one team member drives, while the other monitors the patient's vital signs, and gives additional care as needed to stabilize the patient. In ambulance crews, the paramedic is usually the senior officer, while the EMT may serve as a technical assistant. Incidents as varied as automobile accidents, heart attacks, childbirth, and gunshot wounds require critical intervention, and transport to a medical facility. In an emergency, paramedics respond to a 911 dispatch, often arriving at the scene prior to the police and fire fighters.

Formal courses are often combined with time in an emergency room or ambulance. Graduates of approved EMT-Basic training programs must pass a written and practical examination administered by the State licensing agency or the NREMT. Such education prepares the graduate to take the NREMT examination to become certified as a Paramedic. In addition to carrying out the procedures of the other levels, paramedics administer medications orally and intravenously, interpret electrocardiograms (EKGs), and use monitors and other complex equipment.

On our pages, you can find career training courses and updated job listings for Boston, Massachusetts. College Inspector is the work of a group of Thai students in Bangkok, using info from the US Department of Education, Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). Certification requirements include board certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). The license period varies by individual state, but is usually valid for either two or three years, at which time you'll need to renew. Registered nurses (RNs) are not required to be certified in a particular specialty by state law. For example, it isn't necessary to be a Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) to work on a hospital Medical-Surgical (MedSurg) floor, and most MedSurg nurses are not CMSRNs. To keep your license current, you must take continuing education courses, and renew your license every few years. There are a fixed number of credits that each state requires, and if you work in a hospital facility, these courses may be offered on-site.
